Hidden along the West Coast in the quiet town of Jacobsbaai, there’s a place where imagination still runs wild. The Pixie & Fairy Village at The Plot isn’t just a display — it’s a world built from love, folklore, and creativity. Visitors wander through tiny handcrafted cottages, shimmering water features, and carefully placed sculptures that seem to whisper their own stories.
What started as a small idea has grown into one of Jacobsbaai’s most unexpected treasures — a place where art, storytelling, and nature meet.
The Heart Behind the Magic
Every story has a beginning, and this one starts with a dreamer. The Village was created by Mama Pixie (Pixie Maritz), who grew up on a KwaZulu-Natal farm called Mpanza. As a child, she was enchanted by tales of river fairies from Zulu folklore. Those early stories stayed with her — and years later, they inspired her to bring the world of pixies and fairies to life here on the West Coast.
Together with her husband Gerrie and a group of local artists, Mama Pixie transformed her vision into a living fantasy that touches every visitor who walks through the gate. Officially opened by Cape Town Tourism in 2017 and featured on shows like Kwêla and Karavaan, the Village has become a true labour of love.
A Living Artwork
Every element of the Village has been made by hand — the cottages, the sculptures, even the tiny characters that guard each corner. Artists like Clifford Noi, Dickson Andrew, Marcell Schoeman (Maximilian), and Trish Lazenby contributed their creativity to shape a space that feels alive.
Visitors are asked not to touch the fairies — so their stories and their magic remain undisturbed for those who come after.
Stepping Into the Village
When you enter, time slows down. You might find Mama Pixie herself sharing stories, or browse the Pixie Shop, filled with dreamcatchers, incense, toys, and vintage treasures. Children love the fairies; adults love the peace that seems to hang in the air. During flower season, the Village bursts into colour, making it a photographer’s dream and a heartwarming stop for travellers exploring the coast.
